Powhiri (4pm)
People arrive and wait to be called onto the marae by the local
hosts. Following the entrance as a group, whaikorero (speeches)
are made recognising the spiritual dimension and ancestors who
have gone before and will watch over the event, acknowledging
manuhiri (visitors) and those who are in that place for the first
time. Following the whaikorero, waiata (songs) are sung by the
supporters of each speaker and then the tangata whenua (hosts)
and manuhiri (visitors) greet one another with hongi. Following
the powhiri, a meal is served where people will have time to
chat with each other and afterwards to get conference materials,
get settled into their sleeping areas, etc.

History of Pirirakau and Poututerangi
Marae
A local kaumatua (elder) will share stories about the history
of the tangata whenua, the impacts of colonisation, local resistance
through to the present day.

Can a Christian not be anarchist? Graham Cameron will lead this
session reflecting on scripture and examples from church history
of Christian anarchist theology and action.

Anarchism: A Secular Overview
What is Anarchism? Who are the major anarchist thinkers and practitioners
from this part of the planet? Who are/were they influenced by?
Sam Buchanan from the Wildcat Anarchist Collective in Wellington
will present this session.

pertaining to the conference themes.

Ploughshares & Peace On Trial
During the week of the conference Ciaron's trial starts in Ireland
for a nonviolent action on a military base. He asked for us to
show a documentary about the last mis-trial and pray for this
